Alison Karam APR / Senior Media Strategist
Alison is a big picture person with a “rubber meets the road” approach to building bridges between people, companies and ideas. She has more than 20 years experience helping corporate, nonprofit, government and educational institutions build relationships with their publics and strategize marketing initiatives to maximize growth, enhance customer service and stay ahead of the competition. She uses research and discovery to help clients understand their target audiences and how to communicate with them. A skilled facilitator, Alison has worked for nonprofit, health care, high tech, manufacturing, government and service organizations across the country, including United Technologies, United Way of America, AMISTAD America, Chesapeake General Hospital, Martin Marietta Data Systems, Town of West Hartford, and WRAL-TV. Alison was named 2009 Public Relations Practitioner of the Year for southern New England. She is an accredited public relations practitioner and former president of the Public Relations Society of America’s Connecticut Valley Chapter. She has won awards nationally and regionally for her work in crisis communication, benchmarking research, media relations, public affairs, community relations, video production, workforce diversity, newsletters, annual reports, advertising and integrated marketing communications campaigns. Alison currently serves as president of the Killingworth Library Association Board of Directors. She is a reading/literacy tutor for elementary and high school students, and was a volunteer broadcaster/producer at CRIS radio for the blind and print handicapped for more than five years. Alison holds a BS degree in resources management and BA degree in liberal arts writing and editing from North Carolina State University.
